2023-2024 Family Letter

2023-2024 Alamo Education Fund Presidents Letter

Alamo Education Fund

Dear Alamo School Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! The Alamo School Education Fund is a volunteer-run organization that works together with the principal and staff to fund special programs and personnel on campus. We are an affiliate of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation and a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We work to enrich the education of all Alamo School students. The Ed Fund was established to bridge the gap between public funding and the funding necessary to provide all of the resources and activities that we have at Alamo. We can’t reach our budget goals without you and hope you will assist us this year in reaching our fundraising goals to preserve what makes Alamo special. Thank you in advance for your support of the Ed Fund and our mission!

What is the Annual Giving Campaign?
Alamo Elementary School, like many other schools in the area, receives very little funding from the district, state, and federal government. In order to provide high-quality programs, enrichment opportunities and dedicated classroom paraeducators, we are beginning our Annual Giving Campaign at registration. Any donation you’re able to contribute will have a significant impact as we depend on the financial support of our families and community! We must raise a minimum of $294,764.06 this year to pay for the salaries of the classroom paraeducators, program specialists and supplies that enrich student learning. It is imperative that we secure as much of our budget as possible early in the school year to keep these programs and services available to our children. Next week you will receive an email from Principal Remmers with information on using our online registration platform, Future Fund. This platform with important school information will open on August 1st and is the way to make your contribution to the Ed Fund, view important dates and register your child(ren).

What does the Ed Fund pay for?
This year we are funding 135 paraeducator hours a week (up from 91 hours last year!); instructors and supplies for music, chorus and chimes; the art program; two reading instructional specialists; the technology/STEM instructor and supplies; science supplies; and an additional 8.5 library hours/week and library supplies. These programs are funded exclusively by donations to the Ed Fund and wouldn’t otherwise be available to our students. For the 2023-2024 school year, we are asking for a suggested donation of $750 per student, the same ask as last year, but now with increased services and 44 additional para hours! As you can see in the chart above, the actual cost per student is closer to $850, however we endeavor to make up the difference with our other fundraisers that take place throughout the year.

How else does the Ed Fund fundraise during the year?
Additional fundraisers held throughout the year include ThinkWorks enrichment classes, Teacher Treats, the online auction, as well as restaurant giveback nights and retail partners. Save the date for our largest in-person fundraising event and evening of fun: “Meet Me in Capri” live auction and gala, scheduled for Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 at Round Hill Country Club. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of volunteer hours to put on these events! Look for volunteer opportunities during the Future Fund registration as well or email us at the address below if you’re interested in helping this year!

Does your employer match?
Many employers have a corporate match program that could double (or triple) your donation! Also, many companies extend their matching gifts program to match donations made by their employee's spouse. Please see this website to see if your employer will match your donation and how to submit the request.
During the registration process, we will ask for your employer. This is only so we can research if your company matches. A volunteer will send you an email with important information and you will receive a PDF receipt to submit to your employer. We cannot submit the request on your behalf.

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sincerely,
Lauren Cymerys and Kristen Mynsberge
